A lorry driver charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Emma Mackarel has been granted bail by the High Court. The 56-year-old Romanian national, Ion Bucurica, resides in France.

The collision occurred on the N2 near Castleblayney in Monaghan in December. Bucurica drove a heavy goods vehicle that struck the car of Mackarel, an Enniskillen native who lived in Monaghan.

Bucurica's earlier bail application was rejected. He must return to Monaghan District Court on May 11 for directions on the case.
