George Ashmore of Newtownards reached his 100th birthday with an afternoon tea party at Towerview Resource Centre. He attends the centre regularly.

Staff and service users organised the event. A piper performed at the celebration.

Ashmore stated he stays active by exercising and using his four-wheeler on good days. He stops to talk with people during outings.

He described the centre as welcoming. Staff provide strong support, he said. Exercise sessions and activities like snooker keep his mind and body healthy.

Ashmore values independence as a factor in his long life. He aims to speak positively about others.

Towerview manager Darren Bradshaw called it a privilege to mark the milestone. The centre fosters friendships among members. Staff arranged the party because such occasions are rare.
