Ards and North Down Council will manage Bangor Marina starting April 1. The transfer comes after the council and operator Boatfolk failed to agree on terms for a new management contract during a procurement process.

The council stated it is coordinating with Boatfolk and marina staff for a smooth handover that maintains services for staff, berth holders, and users. Council officers are contacting staff directly and will meet with berth holders and customers soon.

Boatfolk requested berth holders to approve data transfer to the council. The council supports staff moving under TUPE regulations.

Bangor Marina has over 500 berths for vessels up to 20 metres. Private operators have run the facility since 2008. Boatfolk began operations in 2020.

The council plans to assess the long-term operating model after the transition.
