Councillor Calls for Urgent Repairs to Pothole-Riddled Moy Road in Armagh
Armagh SDLP councillor Thomas O’Hanlon has described the Moy Road on the outskirts of Armagh as unfit for its traffic volume due to extensive potholes. The affected stretch runs from the Drumcairn Road junction to the Blackwatertown Road junction.
O’Hanlon stated that the road serves as a key trunk route connecting east and west Armagh. He noted it handles commuters, heavy vehicles and local traffic daily.
Drivers must swerve onto the opposite lane or hard shoulder in sections with poor surfaces to avoid vehicle damage, according to O’Hanlon. He warned that oncoming traffic at those points creates frightening conditions.
Users familiar with the route anticipate the damaged areas, O’Hanlon said. Unfamiliar drivers, especially at night or in bad weather, face heightened risks.
O’Hanlon called for urgent substantial repairs instead of temporary patches. He criticised delays and a mismatch between official investment claims and the road's condition.
Motorists express anger over the neglect, O’Hanlon added. He urged action to address the dangerous deterioration on the Moy Road.
