An Erne East councillor has recorded multiple potholes on roads around Roslea in County Fermanagh, stating that many have been reported repeatedly over six months without being fixed.

Councillor Sheamus Greene photographed the defects and intends to extend his survey to routes in Brookeborough, Tempo and Donagh.

He has written to the Minister for Infrastructure asking the Roads Service to make pothole repairs a priority. A recent council meeting backed a motion to contact the minister and the Roads Service regarding potholes at dangerous spots, including corners and hill brows, where drivers swerve to avoid them.

Councillor Greene cited public remarks by New York’s mayor on filling 100,000 potholes and the argument that unaddressed potholes cause residents to lose faith in their government. He expressed sympathy for the Roads Service but said pothole repairs must now be given greater urgency.
