42-Year-Old Man Charged After Assault in Portglenone
A 42-year-old man faces charges after police investigated an assault on Main Street in Portglenone, County Antrim. The incident occurred around 10pm on Saturday, March 14. A member of the public reported that a man punched a woman to the head and face before forcing her into a black Nissan Qashqai.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of several offences. He has been charged with five counts of common assault, threatening or abusive behaviour, two counts of false imprisonment, a domestic abuse offence, non-fatal strangulation or asphyxiation, and taking a motor vehicle without authority.
The man is scheduled to appear before Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 16. The Public Prosecution Service will review all charges as standard procedure.
Officers have asked witnesses, those who attempted to intervene, or individuals with CCTV or video footage to contact police on 101, quoting reference 215/03/26.
