Michael Morgan, 36, from Lisburn, received a 38-month prison sentence for attempting to rob a supermarket in Lisburn. The sentence includes 19 months in custody and 19 months on licence.

Morgan appeared before Craigavon Crown Court on March 10. He pleaded guilty to attempted robbery, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, and possession of a class C controlled drug.

Police investigated after a report of a man brandishing a large knife at staff in the Warren Gardens store on March 7. The man tried to take money from the cash register and fled without any.

Officers arrested Morgan on the same day following enquiries.
