An 18-year-old restricted driver from Aughnacloy received a 28-day driving ban and a £125 fine at Omagh Magistrates Court for speeding.

Dylan Sherlock, of Orchard Park, admitted exceeding the 45mph limit for restricted drivers. Police detected him travelling at 89mph on Clanabogan Road in Omagh on November 5. The road carries a 60mph limit.

Sherlock passed his driving test in March the previous year. His solicitor noted he faces a licence suspension after accumulating six penalty points for driving on defective tyres in a prior case.

The court imposed the disqualification and fine on Tuesday.
