Shane McCann, 25, from Crosskeys Road near Ahoghill in Co Antrim, drove a BMW at 75mph in a 40mph zone. Police detected him at Sevenmilestraight at Loanends at 3.15pm on June 30 last year.

Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena on March 3, heard the case. District Judge Nigel Broderick described the speed as equivalent to motorway levels in the restricted zone.

The court banned McCann from driving for one month and imposed a £150 fine.
