Larne Man Disqualified from Driving After Drugs Found in System
Morgan Lindsay, 35, from Bank Road in Larne, appeared at Lisburn Magistrates Court charged with driving while unfit through drugs, possession of Class B drug GBL, and possession of Class C drug diazepam.
Police received a report on May 1, 2025, of a possible drink-driver near Forestside. Officers stopped the vehicle on Carryduff Road after it swerved lanes and ignored their lights and sirens.
A breath test returned a zero reading. Officers noted Lindsay's bloodshot eyes and saw him move an item from the central console to his pocket. A search uncovered GBL in the pocket and diazepam, for which he had no prescription.
Blood tests in custody detected multiple drugs. Lindsay admitted taking drugs the night before.
District Judge Rosie Watters disqualified him from driving for 18 months and fined him £250 plus a £15 offender levy for the unfit driving charge.
For each drug possession charge, Watters imposed a one-month custodial sentence, suspended for 12 months. She ordered destruction of the drugs.
A defence lawyer stated Lindsay sold his vehicle, holds a responsible job, made full admissions, and complied fully with police.
