Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council's communities committee received an update on the Ulster Sports Legacy programme. The initiative aims to create a virtual and physical museum with a hall of fame to showcase local, regional and national sports achievements.

Round table discussions involved the GAA and Ulster Rugby. The Irish Football Association did not participate. A strategy document featured Northern Ireland football players, the 1982 World Cup squad and the current women's team.

Councillor Brian Higginson raised a concern about the absence of IFA involvement. Councillor Thomas Beckett noted Northern Ireland's strong sporting record relative to its size. He referenced snooker players Alex Higgins and Dennis Taylor, along with boxers.

A council officer stated that invitations were extended to organisations for the round table talks. The groups named in the report were the first to reply.
