Tyrone Artist Commissions Portrait for Jane Goodall Institute Auction
A Plumbridge-born artist has completed an oil portrait of conservationist Jane Goodall. Quentin Devine, now based in London, received the commission from the Jane Goodall Institute in London. The work will appear in a silent auction at the Hope Gala on March 23 at The Peninsula London.
Four years earlier, Devine created another painting for the institute and presented it to Goodall. The portrait took three days to complete using a selected photograph as reference.
Devine attended St Colman's High School in Strabane and studied visual communication at Ulster University. He has worked in design for more than 25 years.
Last year, he produced a painting titled Attenborough in 46 Animals, displayed at the World Wide Fund for Nature headquarters in England ahead of broadcaster David Attenborough's 100th birthday in May.
Devine co-created the children's picture book It's Raining and I'm OK, aimed at supporting children with special needs during transitions. He also holds a Guinness World Record for the largest trading card mosaic using a Pokemon design.
