Tribunal Orders Motion R Design Ltd to Pay Former Employee £2,916 in Notice Pay
An Employment Tribunal in Belfast has ordered Motion R Design Ltd to pay former employee Darren Little £2,916 gross in outstanding notice pay following his departure from the company.
The tribunal, presided over by Employment Judge O'Neill and sitting with members Ms A Frew and Mr M McKeown, heard the case on 19 February 2026 and issued its judgment on 24 February 2026. The ruling was unanimous and delivered orally at the end of the hearing.
Little brought the claim himself without legal representation. The respondent, Motion R Design Ltd, did not attend and was not represented at the hearing. The Department for the Economy appeared as a notice party, represented by Ms A Moody and Mr P Cassidy of the Redundancy Payments Service.
The tribunal found that Little's claim for notice pay, outstanding at the point his employment ended, was well-founded against the respondent. He had completed four years of service, with a gross weekly pay of £965, capped at £729 for the purposes of the calculation.
The judgment is a relevant judgment under the Industrial Tribunals (Interest) Order (Northern Ireland) 1990, meaning interest provisions may apply to the award. The decision is due to be entered in the register within 21 days of issue.
