Donaghadee progressed to the next round of the Gordon West Cup after a 41-17 victory over PSNI at Donaldson Park on Saturday.

The home side opened the scoring four minutes in, as Chris Hamilton crossed the line following a move across the field, but the conversion was missed. PSNI responded five minutes later with a converted try out wide, and added a penalty after 15 minutes to lead 10-5.

Donaghadee then took control, with Daniel Onstwedder forcing his way over to level the scores, and Cohen Hurley touching down in the corner just before half-time to make it 15-10.

Early in the second half, Matthew Stockton scored under the posts, with Hurley converting to extend the lead to 22-10. Shortly after, winger Aaron McKee ran from his own 22, beat several defenders, and kicked ahead before winning the race to score.

Olly Hamilton darted over from a ruck after a scrum move was halted short, and Hurley's conversion made it 34-10. On the hour mark, Sam Ingham made ground down the wing and passed inside to Conor Moore, who ran in for a try, with Adam McGrath converting to bring the score to 41-10.

PSNI capitalised on two Donaghadee yellow cards in the final quarter to score in the corner, but the home defence held firm for the remainder of the match.

Aaron McKee was named man of the match, sponsored by Copeland Distillery. Donaghadee's next league fixture is away to Monaghan on October 17.
