St John's are through to the semi-finals of the U21B Championship following a 5-12 to 1-18 victory over St Paul's at Shaws Road on Wednesday evening.

The visiting side seized control early with goals from Lewis Rafferty, Enda McGurk, Caolan Wilson and Tomas Adams, all scored within the opening 22 minutes. Rafferty finished with 2-1, Adams contributed 1-5 (0-4 frees), Wilson added 1-1 and McGurk scored a goal.

St Paul's, despite a second-half recovery that featured a 1-8 tally from Sean Og McLaren including a 21-yard free goal and 0-8 from Oisin McLaren, could not close the gap. Their only other scorers were Cillian O'Neill (0-1) and G Maguire (0-1).

Substitutes used: Eoin Brown for St Paul's; Daniel McKenna, Brian Gough and Fiontann McIlroy for St John's.

The win extends St John's strong form after they defeated Con Magees in their opening fixture with nine goals. They will play their semi-final in a week's time against an opponent yet to be confirmed. St Paul's exit the competition but will turn attention to the Intermediate championship.
