Bangor gymnast Caleb Moore has reached the top of Team GB's under-16 double mini trampoline rankings. The 16-year-old achieved the number one position through accumulated scores at designated selection events throughout the year.

Moore trains with Kestrel Trampoline Club under coach Stuart Harper. He finished first at a British Championships qualifier in Telford and also performed well in the World Championships trial. He helped Team GB secure a silver medal at the European Championships in Portimão, Portugal.

Moore is a student at St Columbanus' College in Bangor. He has been involved in the sport for about five years. He said being ranked number one was a long time coming and that achieving it was worth the hard work.

Harper said Moore trains for only one and a half hours per week on the apparatus, while many competitors train three or four times. He described Moore's talent as exceptional.

Moore will compete at the World Championships in Nanjing, China, in November. Harper said the aim is to progress through the qualification rounds and reach the final, which is the top eight. He said reaching the final would be a great achievement at Moore's first world event.

Harper said Moore will move into the 17-21 age category next year, which is the start of a senior career. He noted that double mini trampoline is not currently an Olympic discipline, but trampoline is. Harper said they have begun discussing whether Moore should transition to trampoline for future Olympic campaigns. He believes Moore has the potential to become the next Olympian from Northern Ireland in his sport.
