A £600,000 resurfacing scheme on Tates Avenue in Belfast is scheduled to begin on Monday 21 September 2026.

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins said the investment reflects a commitment to maintaining the road network. She said well-maintained roads support safer and more comfortable journeys, and the scheme will ensure Tates Avenue continues to serve the local community effectively.

The scheme covers a distance of 880 metres between Lisburn Road and Boucher Road.

Preliminary work starts on 21 September. Resurfacing will then take place over two weekends: from Friday 2 October to Monday 5 October, and on Saturday 17 October and Sunday 18 October. Road closures will be in place during those weekends.

A diversion will operate via Lisburn Road, Stockmans Lane and Boucher Road. Local access for residents and businesses will be maintained where practicable.

The work is expected to be substantially complete by Thursday 22 October 2026, subject to favourable weather conditions.

Road users are advised to allow additional time for journeys and to comply with temporary traffic management arrangements.
