Lisburn Road Resurfacing Scheme Starts Next March
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has approved a £342,000 scheme to resurface Halfpenny Gate Road in Lisburn. The work covers 1.94 kilometres from the Meadow Road junction to Robbery Road. It starts on Monday 2 March 2026 and aims for substantial completion by 10 July 2026, subject to weather.
Closures will apply weekdays from 8am to 6pm between Meadow Road and Robbery Road until early July. A diversion route runs via Halfpenny Gate Road, Meadow Road, A3 Lisburn Road, A3 Moira Road, Gravelhill Road, Lurganure Road, and back to Halfpenny Gate Road. Signs will guide drivers during these times.
The Department for Infrastructure expects delays and urges motorists to plan extra time and follow restrictions. Local access will continue where feasible to limit disruption.
Kimmins described the project as key funding for the Lisburn and Castlereagh area. She noted it supports residents, road users, businesses, and community links. She asked locals, firms, and drivers for patience during the works.
