A court has adjourned a murder case involving the death of a woman in Derry while authorities await forensic results and a phone report.

Conor McNamee, 30, of Summer Meadow Mews in Derry, is charged with the murder of Amy Doherty on March 21. He is also accused of possessing an offensive weapon, specifically a kitchen knife, and possessing class A drugs on the same date.

At a sitting of the Magistrate's Court on Thursday, a prosecutor said all evidence was in place except for forensics, which are expected to be available within a few weeks. The court also heard that a phone report is outstanding and may take several weeks to complete.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott indicated he was content with a four-week adjournment. The case was adjourned until October 15, and McNamee remains in custody.
