A 30-year-old man charged with the murder of Amy Doherty in Derry in March had his bail application withdrawn at the city's Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Conor McNamee, of Summer Meadow Mews, was arrested after he fell from the Foyle Bridge shortly before Ms Doherty was found fatally injured at their home on 21 March. He has been in custody since that day.

McNamee is accused of murder and of possessing an offensive weapon, a kitchen knife, and possessing class A drugs, all on the same date.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott asked Deputy District Judge Liam McStay to withdraw the bail application. He said there was no current suitable bail address but indicated the matter would be revisited in due course.

A solicitor for the Public Prosecution Service told the court that several reports remained outstanding, including the post-mortem report and forensic reports. The prosecution said the file was progressing but would take time given the nature of the case.

Judge McStay granted the withdrawal of the bail application and adjourned the case until 17 September.

Amy Doherty, a 28-year-old mother of two, was discovered with severe injuries at the property in Summer Meadow Mews. She died a short time later.
