The prosecution file is now complete in the case of a man charged with murder in Derry.

Conor McNamee, aged 30 and from Summer Meadow Mews in the Waterside area, is accused of killing Amy Doherty on 21 March. He also faces charges of possessing a kitchen knife and class A drugs on the same date.

The case was mentioned at Derry Magistrates' Court on Thursday. The defendant did not appear in person. A prosecutor told the court the file was finished and awaited allocation to a trial prosecutor.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that was acceptable at this stage. The court adjourned the case until 13 August and McNamee remains in custody.
