A man in his 30s was taken to hospital after being attacked by two masked intruders in Larne on Sunday night.

Police said the aggravated burglary was reported at approximately 11.20pm on September 13 in the Carson Street area.

Two men, both dressed in black and with their faces covered, entered the property through the front door. One was armed with a knife, while the other attacked the man with a metal bar.

The victim was struck several times on his hand and left leg, and also punched in the head a number of times. He required hospital treatment for his injuries.

The intruders also took a set of keys from the property before fleeing the scene.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and footage. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have recorded CCTV, dash-cam or other video, or noticed suspicious activity.

The police investigation is ongoing to determine the motive and identify those involved.
