Man in Hospital After Masked Attack in Londonderry Home
A man in his forties remains in hospital after three masked men forced their way into a house in Melmore Gardens, Creggan area of Londonderry, and attacked him with weapons as he lay in bed.
The incident occurred shortly before 21:00 GMT on Tuesday, March 17. Police classify it as an aggravated burglary.
Four other people were in the house at the time, including two teenage children. None reported physical injuries.
Detective Inspector Lizzie Ballentine of the Police Service of Northern Ireland called the assault savage. She stated no one deserves such an attack and no justification exists for the violence.
Ballentine noted the trauma will extend beyond physical injuries and leave psychological effects on victims, families, and young people.
Police seek information from witnesses of suspicious activity in the area between 20:30 and 21:00 GMT. They request any doorbell, CCTV, or dashcam footage.
