Police appeal for witnesses after Newtownards man attacked in his bed
A Newtownards man has been taken to hospital with significant head injuries after an aggravated burglary at his home on Monday night.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland received a report at around 11:25pm on 15 June that a house in the Greenwell Street area had been entered and the occupant attacked.
Officers and paramedics from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended the scene. The victim told police he was in bed when someone struck him on the head multiple times.
He was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital for further treatment.
Police are treating the incident as an aggravated burglary and have launched an investigation. Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
They want to speak to anyone who was in the Greenwell Street area at the time and noticed anything suspicious, or who has CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage that could assist.
