Two men have been charged after a police patrol car was rammed repeatedly in west Belfast.

The incident occurred just before midnight on Tuesday 25 August on the Glen Road. Officers on patrol noticed a silver Nissan Juke moving at high speed.

Two police officers were injured during the ramming and attended hospital for treatment the following morning.

The 39-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving, driving without a licence, using a vehicle without valid insurance, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, and failing to provide a specimen when driving unfit.

The 44-year-old man has been charged with possession of a Class A controlled drug.

Both men are expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 23 September. The Public Prosecution Service will review all charges.
