Man charged with riot offences after west Belfast disorder
A 30-year-old man has been charged with riotous behaviour, criminal damage, affray and intentionally encouraging or assisting riot.
The charges relate to disorder in the Stewartstown Road area of west Belfast on Saturday, 18 July.
Police carried out a planned operation that day after reports of dangerous driving. Officers observed a large number of young people travelling dangerously at speed on scrambler-type bikes in the wider Stewartstown Road and Falls Road areas.
The man was charged by the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Public Order Enquiry Team in Belfast.
He is due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates' Court on Monday, 2 November. All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service, as is normal procedure.
