Firefighters believe a fire at a derelict property on Harford Street in Portadown on August 13 was deliberately ignited.

Emergency services were called to the address shortly after 2:18pm. Appliances from Portadown, Lurgan, and Banbridge fire stations attended, along with an aerial appliance from Springfield Fire Station.

The single-storey property required two hose reel jets and one jet to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters left the scene at 4:27pm.

The scene was handed over to the Police Service of Northern Ireland. The incident is the second fire on Harford Street in recent days. Five days earlier, a car was burnt out and a young man died on the same street, but that fire was not treated as suspicious.
