A woman's body was recovered from Lough Erne in the Gay Island area on Monday, 29 June, police have confirmed. Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the family of missing Castlederg woman Lyndsey Rankin has been informed.

Lyndsey Rankin, aged 31, was reported missing on Friday, 5 June. She was last seen in the Castle Archdale Marina area of Lisnarick, County Fermanagh. A major search and rescue operation was launched in the days following her disappearance, focusing on Lower Lough Erne.

West Tyrone DUP MLA Tom Buchanan said his thoughts are with the Rankin family, who are well known in Castlederg. He acknowledged the painful period the family has endured since Lyndsey went missing nearly a month ago and paid tribute to the extensive search efforts carried out across the significant area.

Police are treating the recovery as part of the ongoing investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
