A fundraising stair climbing challenge completed without sleep for 24 hours has collected £6,744 for a County Tyrone child receiving medical care in America.

Niall Murphy carried out 114 ascents of a set of stairs during a single day-long endurance event. The effort was aimed at supporting Jamie McGoldrick, a five-year-old from Trillick, who has progressive infantile scoliosis.

Jamie was diagnosed at 10 months old and now travels to the United States every six to 12 weeks for treatment and rehabilitation.

Mr Murphy, a family friend, has been involved in local charity work for roughly 15 years. He said the latest undertaking would assist with costs linked to Jamie's continuing medical journey overseas.

Donations remain open via a dedicated crowdfunding page.
