Armagh Brothers Plan Mourne Mountains Trek for Heart Charity
Two brothers from Armagh, Jamie Calvert and Kris Calvert, will hike seven peaks in the Mourne Mountains on May 17. The challenge honors their cousin Ally, who died from a cardiac arrest in July 2015 at age 18.
Ally had an undiagnosed enlarged heart that led to sudden arrhythmia death syndrome. The brothers aim to support Cardiac Risk in the Young, a charity that funds research and heart screening to prevent sudden cardiac deaths in people aged 35 and under.
Five years ago, Jamie Calvert and Kris Calvert raised £3,000 for the charity with a three-peaks hike. Their current GoFundMe page targets £300 but has already collected over £200.
