A £140,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme will take place on Waring Street and Bridge Street in Belfast city centre from late June, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced.

The work will begin on Sunday 28 June 2026 and will involve overnight road closures between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am each night until Thursday 2 July. The Department for Infrastructure expects completion by 3 July, subject to favourable weather.

The scheme covers both directions from the Donegall Street–Waring Street junction to the Bridge Street–High Street junction. Signed diversion routes will be in place during the overnight closures.

The Department has said the investment will benefit road users and visitors, and that traffic management has been designed to minimise disruption. However, motorists are advised that some delays are still likely and that extra journey time should be allowed. Local access will be maintained where possible.
