A gunshot damaged a window of a house in Newtownards on Tuesday night while an occupant was inside.

The incident occurred in the Half Acre Lane area at some point between 11.15pm and 11.20pm, with a report of the damage made to police shortly afterwards at about 11.25pm.

Officers attended and confirmed the damage was caused by a shot. No injuries were reported, despite one person being in the property at the time.

It has been reported that a masked man dressed in black and carrying what appeared to be a small handgun was seen in the area, before making off in the direction of Church Street.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage that could assist the investigation to come forward. Motorists with dash-cam recordings, residents with CCTV, or anyone with other video from the area around the time of the incident are asked to contact police.
