Newtownabbey Arson Attack Treated as Racially Motivated Hate Crime
Police in Newtownabbey are investigating an arson attack on a vehicle that they are treating as a racially motivated hate crime.
The incident was reported at approximately 11.40pm on Sunday 14 June, on Mournebeg Drive. Officers and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire. No one was injured.
The car belonged to a Nigerian man who is in Northern Ireland as a student. In an interview, he said his home has been targeted three times in the last five months and that he now fears for his life. He expressed regret about moving to the region to study, saying he is scared inside his home, on the street, and of his neighbours.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting reference number 1818 of 14/06/26. Reports can also be made online via the PSNI website, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
