New Lidl store to open at Craigavon retail park, creating 12 jobs
A new Lidl supermarket is due to open in Craigavon this summer, replacing the retailer's existing Balteagh Road branch.
The store, located off Central Way next to Rushmere Shopping Centre, will have a sales floor of 2,467 square metres, an increase of 23% on the previous site. The project supported more than 150 jobs during planning and construction.
The opening will create 12 additional retail roles, bringing the total team at the Craigavon store to 40. Lidl Northern Ireland's regional managing director Gordon Cruikshanks said the company has served the area since 2004 and that the new premises will offer an expanded product range, including locally produced goods and the retailer's middle aisle items.
The building incorporates energy-efficient technology such as LED lighting, heat pumps and photovoltaic solar panels. These features are intended to cut carbon emissions and contribute to Lidl's target of reaching net-zero by 2050.
Rushmere Shopping Centre attracted more than 10.5 million visitors in 2025. The first ten customers in the queue on opening day will receive a Lidl voucher.
