Lidl's new store in Craigavon is scheduled to open on Thursday 19 June at 8am. The £9m outlet sits adjacent to Rushmere Shopping Centre, with direct access off Central Way.

The 2,467 square metre sales floor replaces the retailer's existing branch on Balteagh Road. It is 23 per cent larger than the previous premises and features energy-efficient additions such as LED lighting, heat pumps and photovoltaic solar panels.

The development has created 12 new retail roles, increasing the workforce at the Craigavon store to 40. A further 150 jobs were supported during the planning and construction process.

Gordon Cruikshanks, regional managing director for Lidl Northern Ireland, said the investment responds to rising customer numbers since the original store opened in 2004. He noted the expanded sales floor allows for a broader product range, including locally sourced goods and the retailer's popular middle-aisle items.

On opening morning, Craigavon actor Owen James will cut the ribbon. The first 10 customers in the queue will each receive a Lidl store voucher.
