The chief executive of Women’s Aid Armagh Down has been named in the King’s Birthday Honours List for her contributions to supporting women and children facing domestic abuse.

She said receiving the award was an honour but emphasised it represented the efforts of many people committed to this work over the years.

She highlighted the dedication of her team and colleagues across Northern Ireland who confront what remains a profound social challenge.

The honour is also for volunteers, supporters, and the women and children whose strength motivates the organisation each day.

Alongside the recognition, she pointed to the ongoing development of ELEOS, a trauma centre of excellence. The first phase has recently opened, with fundraising underway to complete further stages so that more individuals can access recovery and rebuilding services.
