A man in his 30s has been arrested after another man was seriously injured in a blunt weapon assault in Lisburn early on Saturday, June 13.

The victim was attacked shortly after 2am in the Jubilee Avenue area. He sustained a significant injury to his arm and hand and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police arrested a suspect, also aged in his 30s, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, and for anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage from the area to come forward. They can be contacted on 101, quoting reference number 137 13/06/2026.

The PSNI have said the incident is not being treated as a hate motivated assault and is not believed to be linked to the recent disorder.
