Man Arrested After Serious Assault in Coleraine as Police Probe Separate Lisburn Burglary
Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent after a suspected assault at a flat in Coleraine's Westbourne Crescent area. The incident occurred around 3:30am on May 6. Officers found damage to the living room and kitchen of the property. A man in his 50s suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.
Detective Inspector Hanbidge stated that enquiries continue into the circumstances. Police request witnesses who saw suspicious behaviour in the area before the report or anyone with dash-cam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage to contact them on 101, quoting reference 116 06/05/26. In a separate incident, two masked men entered a house in Lisburn's Altona Drive area around 1am on May 6 during an aggravated burglary. They assaulted a 44-year-old man, injuring his head and torso with a hammer. Northern Ireland Ambulance Service took him to hospital for treatment.
Detective Constable McKeown said enquiries aim to establish the motive and identify those involved.
