Rock Bar on Falls Road closes permanently after lease expiry
The Rock Bar on the Falls Road in Belfast has shut permanently, its owners have confirmed.
The closure came into effect on Monday, following the expiry of the premises' lease. In a statement posted on Facebook, the owners said the decision marked the end of a chapter for the well-known west Belfast bar.
The property had already been put on the market with an asking price of £750,000.
In their statement, the owners thanked staff and customers for their support over the years, and made particular reference to the live music events that were a fixture at the venue, including weekly sessions known as Rebel Sundays.
They said the bar had become a home away from home for many and expressed pride and gratitude as they departed.
