BSO cuts fleet carbon emissions by 95% with electric and vegetable oil vehicles
The Business Services Organisation marked World Environment Day by announcing a significant reduction in its transport emissions.
In May, the organisation’s Community Equipment and Continence Service introduced 16 new vehicles. Five are fully electric and 11 run on hydrotreated vegetable oil.
The changes will cut carbon emissions from that fleet by approximately 95%, according to the organisation. The move supports the BSO’s target of a 48% reduction in overall emissions by 2030.
Transport is listed as one of six priority areas in the BSO’s Sustainability Strategy. The strategy outlines ways the organisation is working to lower its environmental impact.
World Environment Day is marked internationally on 5 June each year.
