Nominations open for borough's young sporting stars
Nominations are now open for the ABC Junior Sports Awards, which recognise young athletes, coaches and volunteers across the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon borough.
The awards are organised by the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Sports Forum in partnership with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. Manfreight Ltd is headline sponsor for the fifth year running.
There are 12 award categories covering junior and youth sports people, school and club teams, and coaches and volunteers. Nominees must be aged 18 or under and have achieved a high level of success while competing at county or regional level or above between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026.
Lord Mayor Councillor Mary O'Dowd said the awards showcase the sporting successes that bring pride to the borough and urged people to nominate local rising stars and those who support them.
Chris Slowey, managing director of Manfreight, said sport transforms lives by providing opportunity regardless of background, and his company is pleased to continue its support.
The closing date for online nominations is 5pm on 8 July 2026. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in October 2026.
Full details and nomination guidance are available on the council website.
