Provisional data from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency show 306 deaths registered in the week ending 15 May 2026.

The figure is 11 less than the previous week and falls below the expected total of 351.

Male deaths numbered 154 and female deaths numbered 152 for the week.

The agency reported that 7,347 deaths have been registered in Northern Ireland so far in 2026.

Of those deaths, 3,343 took place in hospital, 1,282 in care homes, and 2,722 in residential addresses, hospices, or other locations.

Fifty-four deaths mentioned flu and pneumonia on the death certificate in the week ending 15 May.

The agency noted that registrations may have been affected by General Registration Office closures around the Early May bank holiday.
