Rags to Runway Programme Launches in Lurgan
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council launches the Rags to Runway programme on Monday 8 June at the Jethro Centre in Lurgan. The six-week initiative teaches participants to upcycle pre-loved garments and unused fabrics into new designs.
Lord Mayor Alderman Stephen Moutray welcomed the programme. He stated that such projects promote sustainability by encouraging conscious consumer habits and addressing textile waste in the borough.
Participants will explore upcycling techniques and learn about the environmental effects of fast fashion. The programme aims to foster community collaboration on sustainable choices.
The initiative ends with a showcase of the participants' creations. Funding comes from The Executive Office via the District Councils Good Relations programme.
Expressions of interest are accepted at the council's website.
