ABC Council Launches Composting Prize Draw for Awareness Week
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council offers residents a chance to win a home composting bin, two bags of compost, and a composting guide. The competition ties into Compost Awareness Week, which runs from Sunday 3 May to Saturday 9 May.
Council produced a video with Natural World Products and Donaghcloney resident Walter Ferris. The video shows the process of turning food waste into nutrient-rich compost used for local food production and floral displays.
Residents enter by watching the video on the council's Facebook page, published on Monday 3 May, and identifying five compostable items shown for brown bins. Entries require name, address, contact telephone number, and email address sent to a specified council email.
Entries close at midnight on Monday 11 May. Winners, drawn at random, will receive prize delivery. Entrants must live within Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough.
Lord Mayor Alderman Stephen Moutray noted that spring garden work provides a timely reminder of brown bin use. He stated that resident recycling produces thousands of tonnes of compost yearly through Natural World Products for horticulture and local produce.
