Police in Antrim and Newtownabbey have started actions to reduce pedestrian risks from vehicles and trailers parked along Antrim Road. The concerns cover the section between Sandyknowes Roundabout and Sentry Lane. Officers noted these issues over recent months.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesperson stated that the force is collaborating with partners, elected representatives, and hauliers to end the practice of leaving vehicles unattended on this stretch.

The spokesperson indicated that cooperation from all parties could eliminate unattended vehicles entirely on the road.

Police will apply existing powers to remove vehicles when necessary. Owners will bear the costs of removal and storage.
