Fermanagh and Omagh District Council approved seed funding of up to £25,000 for a Halloween fireworks event in Omagh in October 2026. The funding targets an event delivery organisation selected through an expression of interest process.

The council indicated support for Enniskillen BID's application for Halloween activities. This includes a fireworks display. The council recommended sponsorship funding of £15,000, matching the request amount.

A council spokesperson stated the approach to Halloween events follows different local requests and delivery models in each town.

Claims have surfaced over funding disparity between Fermanagh and Omagh districts. Concerns also exist about the future of this year's fireworks display in Enniskillen, the county town.

For the past two years, the Enniskillen fireworks display received funding from local company Encirc. Enniskillen BID organised the event independently without council financial support. Council funding was not reinstated after the Covid pandemic.
