Person Rescued from Lower Lough Erne by Family Before Coastguard Arrival
A person was recovered from Lower Lough Erne in County Fermanagh after falling into the water just after midnight on May 4. Family members reached the individual first and brought them out of the water.
Lough Erne Coastguard Rescue Team deployed to the scene following a report from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. The team arrived to find the person already safe on shore.
Rescuers carried out a medical assessment on site. They then transferred the casualty to hospital for additional treatment.
The operation took place on Bank Holiday Monday. Erne Coastguard Rescue Team confirmed the rescue shortly after 10am that morning.
A team spokesperson credited the family's prompt response and the 999 call to coastguard for the positive outcome. The person is recovering in hospital.
