PSNI Issues Traffic Advice for Irish Cup Final in South Belfast
The Irish Cup Final between Coleraine and Dungannon Swifts takes place at the National Stadium in south Belfast on Saturday at 2.30pm. More than 12,000 supporters are expected for the match during a bank holiday weekend.
South Belfast Area Commander Chief Inspector Mark Conway advised supporters to show consideration when passing through residential streets and commercial districts near the stadium. Drivers should park in ways that respect local residents and businesses.
Boucher Road will see heavy activity from shoppers and others. Supporters and shoppers need to plan routes ahead and allow extra time due to expected congestion.
Traffic build-up will occur on the M1, Donegall Road and Boucher Road before and after the game.
Supporters must walk respectfully through nearby residential areas. Zones around the National Stadium prohibit street drinking under Belfast City Council by-laws, which must be followed.
Chief Inspector Conway stated that all attendees should act in a way that upholds their clubs' reputations.
