Rev Scott E Elliott, 29, from Lisbellaw in Fermanagh, will be ordained as a priest in the Church of Ireland on May 30. He will become the youngest member of the clergy at that time.

Elliott served as a deacon for one year at St Mary’s Cathedral in Limerick after his ordination as deacon in June 2025 on Pentecost.

He graduated with a theology degree from Queen’s University Belfast in 2017 and completed postgraduate studies at Durham University. He worked afterward in regulatory services and community wellbeing at Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.

Elliott described Church of Ireland ministry as progressing through three stages: deacon, priest, and bishop. He noted his time in Limerick provided substantial learning.

He stated his age offers insight into challenges faced by younger working professionals. He expressed commitment to supporting people through ministry.

Elliott highlighted lifelong ties to Saint Macartin’s Cathedral in Enniskillen and the Church of Ireland. He credited family support, including his grandmother, for encouragement during his path to ordination.

His ordination represents the first for a former pupil of Erne Integrated College.
