A 62-year-old man from Lisburn received a £200 fine and five penalty points after driving at 91mph in a 60mph zone. Edward Scott of Old School House Mews appeared at Lisburn Magistrates Court on a charge of excess speed.

Police conducted a mobile speed detection operation on Glenavy Road on August 26, 2024. Officers clocked Scott's northbound Mini Cooper at 91mph.

The court learned Scott held a clean driving licence prior to the incident. His defence stated he accepted the speed as unacceptable, noting the car's power exceeded his control. Scott sold the vehicle and requires his licence for employment.

District Judge Rosie Watters issued the fine, plus a £15 offender levy, and endorsed the licence with five points.
